-a box with motion sensor on boebot so when hand inserts into hole in the top video starts in bottom of hole. box is about 4ft sq to hold projector boebot and so enough room @ bottom of hole that video is not interupted by hand sticking in. mirror used to reflect to bottom of hole from the side

-Motion sensor in front of computer servor using boebot hits a key and in isadora a movie starts on monitor for a certain amount of time (maybe a video cam of viewer making motion?) which is right on computer!

-boebot moves around connected to computer mouse and draws a pattern on photoshop. pattern could be programed into boebot to draw certain shape. NOTE: i have an old mouse

MoMA Marina Abramovic Review

Wow! Nakedness everywhere, and the artist on site having a crazy staring contest! The piece of new media that most struck me was the self mutilation video. The artist cuts a star into her stomach and the viewer witnesses a stange dance and ritual throuout the goings on. The razor blades are visable and the crowd witnessing the video are simply stunned. Even though she is naked in the video you do not even realize because of the content and the intense subject matter. Something that is looked down upon in society and a eventful tendency that sends people to get therapy. I myself get the idea that she has strong will power to perform such an act. The video is simply used to alocate the performance and allow the masses to witness such an outragous act of art. The gestures of the actor play down the fact that she is indeed cutting a star into herself. The work "bleeds" into the collection of pieces in the show with the bones, actors, and other videos. I wonder if she still has a scar? Having not been able to see the performance live the video recorder plays a important roll in this particular work. The performance was done once and thats it. Hopfully she does not cut herself over and over again! It is in a sense decorating the body and the star references the universe and being on her stomach could go into an idea of the womb and releasing life. The work should be watched and I am sure some people will feel that it is of bad taste.

Whitney Biennial Review

The work in the Whitney show was disapointing. I felt I easily could have had work in the collection. A few of the larger works were ok but there was no direction or common thread. A room full of flower paintings seemed ridiculous with what is going on in the street painting scene. I have books in my library of contemporary art that hold more talent than what was on display in the Whitney.
Some of the video was interesting for instance the herse with the image on the windshield. Also the room full of the photos of the war victim did also hold some weight, with what is going on in our society. I rushed through the museum and did take down a few names of pieces I felt were interesting but the content was either too strong or lacking.
The installation outside titled "Cosmology of Yard" by Theaster Gates had a strong presence. The work had a video showing the making of the hundreds of wooden "pieces". There also was a sound method which is also used in new media. There was other video in the show but I feel this one related to its environment and had no shock value which seemed overpowering in the other videos. You did not have to watch long to understand what was going on in the video. The sounds on the other hand more directly related to the process of the work of the installation like monks copying books by hand in old times! You could hear the chanting sounds from the sidewalk and passerbyes were drawn in to see where the sound was coming from.
I feel the piece held standards of new and old media which was original for the biennial. There was content but as a viewer you still question what you are looking at. Why it was outside in the rain I do not know?
